Meat Loaf for Vata
Ingredients
- 1/2 / 1.10 kg. / lbs. beef ground (Vata - - Pitta ++ Kapha ++)
- 1/2 / 1.10 kg. / lbs. chicken ground (Vata - Pitta ++ Kapha +)
- 1 small onion chopped (Vata - - Pitta + Kapha -)
- 1/2 cup whole wheat semolina flour Vata - Pitta - - Kapha ++
- 2 Tbs. sesame oil Vata - - Pitta ++ Kapha 0
- 1 cup boiling water Vata 0 Pitta - Kapha +
- 1 clove garlic crushed (Vata - - Pitta ++ Kapha 0)
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper ground (Vata - Pitta + Kapha - -)
- 1/2 tsp. salt Vata - - Pitta 0 Kapha +
- 1 tsp. cumin Vata - Pitta + Kapha -
- 3 eggs Vata - - Pitta + Kapha +
Instructions
- Heat the oven to a high temperature.
- Oil with sesame oil an English cake baking dish and spread 2 Tbs. semolina, on the bottom.
- Fry a finely chopped onion in some sesame oil, until golden.
- Mix in a large bowl the rest of the semolina flour, sesame oil, spices and hot water.
- Add the meat, onion, garlic and eggs and mix to a unified mixture.
- Bake 15 minutes on high heat and 20-30 more minutes on medium heat, until a toothpick comes out dry.
Notes
Optional additions:
For Vata: serve with berry sauce.
