Oatmeal Cereal for the Beginning of Fall

Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats Vata - - Pitta 0 Kapha +
  • 1 cup water Vata 0 Pitta - Kapha +
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk Vata - Pitta - - Kapha ++
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil Vata - Pitta - - Kapha ++
  • 1 tsp. coconut flakes slightly roasted (Vata - Pitta - Kapha +)
  • 2 Tbs. almonds peeled and slightly roasted (Vata - - Pitta - - Kapha +)
  • Pinch cardamom ground (Vata - Pitta - Kapha -)
  • 1 tsp. date syrup Vata - Pitta - - Kapha ++

Instructions
 

  • Put the oats in a small saucepan, add the water and milk and bring to boil.
  • Add the coconut oil, lower the flame and cook until soft but not too dry.
  • Serve in a bowl, sprinkle with cardamom and top with coconut flakes, roasted almonds and date syrup.

Notes

Optional additions: For Vata & Pitta: add to the cooking a handful of black raisins.
